Audits & Chatter: Same Sandbox?

Post by: | November 19, 2012

One of the more interesting applications for Chatter/Social Media that we’re seeing (and I’d like to hear if others have experience with) is using Chatter to serve as backup information for audits. For instance, controllers of two divisions might have a conversation about intercompany accounts and have supporting information in a spreadsheet. The conversation and spreadsheet can be attached to a transaction or an account. So rather than digging through email, searching for a spreadsheet on a local drive or recalling the details from a phone conversation, the backup information is part of the system of record. Some of our more progressive customers have mentioned this use of Chatter. Anyone else have the same experience?

The business stories behind social tools never cease to amaze me.
